World History-How do we solve the problems of the Industrial Revolution?

After reading about seven different thinkers in class today, Mr. Dees would like you to take on the identity of two of these people. You will then write a short conversation between the two thinkers.

EXAMPLE:

Adam Smith: "I believe that the best way to solve problems is to let the market take care of itself."

John Stuart Mill: "Well hello, Mr. Smith. You have some clever thoughts, but clearly the market will not solve all of our problems. The government has to help!"

It would then continue on....

In your conversation, each person MUST speak 2-3 times!

Your answers should include facts from their ideas, reasonable conversation and proper spelling/grammar.

adam smith:i belive that people should want to work for their families and to pick thmselves up out of poverty.

charles fourier: excuse me i couldn't help but to hear your comments and i'd beg to differ. we should come to gether, rely on others and in return they can rely on us for what we all need.

adam smith: but thats the exact opposite of what should happen. we should put them against each other to compete to see who sells the most and high quality product at the lowest rate.

charles fourier: i strongly disagree. the government could end all of the suffering and pain if they controlled all of the aspects to the economy.

adam smith: i'd think we should come asunder.

charles fourier:yes we can both agree that this conversation has become too heated.

Adam Smith: I believe that their should be economic liberty and it would lead to progress and welath.

Charles Fourier: Well i believe that all factories should be government owned.

Adam: But with that everything becomes restricted and therefore restricts progress.

Charles: Not true. it would be the same as a privatley owned factory only the government will be overwatching it and make sure it will not fail.

Adam: But a professional would do a better job than a government official and would know when to do what needs to be done.

Charles: True, but with all factories under government control, we would be able to know what's high in demand and problems would be swiftly and easily dealt with.

Adam Smith: I strongly believe, as a professor, that liberty in the economy will lead to much progess.

Charles Fourier: Well that can be true, however, a new economic system must be produced.

Adam Smith: oh, and why is that?

Charles Fourier: It is simple to say our fine government is capable to plan our economy.

Adam Smith: I can say that I have my opinion and you have yours. But I can also say you are wrong because people can work for their own good with competition and the government should should in no way interfere.

Charles Fourier: This free-market nonsense is terrible. I will not tolerate talking to you any longer. Good-bye.

Adam smith:i am a strong believer in capitalism.
Charles Fourier: I am a strong beleiver in socialism!

Adam smith: Lets fight about it and see if Mr. Dees gives Romo an A!
Charles Fourier: Well I beleive in sharing profit allowing everyone to lean on their neighbor and in turn their beighbor can lean on them.

Adam Smith: Thats wrong what can you gain then if your neighbor is an alcoholic who never works?

Charles Fourier: Your taking this the worng way what would happen if your neighbor was hard working and intilleigent? There would be no end to your success!

Adam Smith: Possibly, but who wants to take that chance? I mean your saying that soemone who works less hard will get paid the same as someone who doesnt, so WHY would ANYONE work hard??
Capitalism is everyman for himself surivival of the fittest like what Darwin said!

charles fourier: Have you been reading science nerd weekly?

Adam Smith: Yes of course, do you?

charles fourier:Of course i do who doesnt?

Adam smith: Anyway it seems to me as if capitalism is all the better for those who want to actually succeed. Besides who says the governments an good, anyway?

charles fourier: I do and besides what about all the poor people like those Nike Factory workers in indonesia? Look what capitalism has done to them their at the bottom of barrel and they "work hard"!

Adam Smith: Whatever I'm ganna go have a beer, that I earned with my own money NOT my neighbors!

Adam smith:I believe we need economic liberty to become wealthy and have progress.

Charles Fourier: I think it is much smarter to have all factoires owned by the government.

Adam Smith: If we cant choose to do thing on our own and have some freedom, there will be no progress. The government is holding back out success.

Charles fourier: If people take complete control, there will be too much chaos. The government keeps things in order.

Adam Smith: IF a person owns the factory on his own they will know exactly what needs to be done because he is right there monitoring the factory. The government just over looks everything and does not know what each factory truly needs.

Charles Fourier: That is a good point but without government enforcement you will not know what product is in demand. The government can give the factory that information to make sure they dont fail.

Adam Smith: Im through with your nonsense ideas and refuse to talk t you any longer.

Rosie T said...

Adam smith: I believe in a free economy of free markets where the government should not interfere.

Charles Fourier: Hello Adam. I am Charles and I believe that socialism is a way to offset the ill effects of industrialization. And I think that we could come together in a group and community and rely on others.

Adam smith: Well, I believe that we should all fallow the law of competition and see who is the fittest to make a better product.

Charles Fourier: That’s funny because I completely disagree with you! I think that the factors of production are owned by the public and for the welfare of all. We should plan an economy than have free-market capitalism!

Adam smith: My natural laws of economics are far more intelligent and thought out more than yours. Including my law of supply and demand where enough goods would be produced at the lowest price to meet demand in a market economy.

Charles Fourier: Well, I feel that this conversation is over since we can’t even agree on some simple ideas.

Carter N said...

Adam Smith: I believe in three natural laws. The law of self-interest, the law of competition and the law of supply and demand

Charles Fourier: What are you talking about? I believe the public should own the factors of production and operate for the welfare of all.

Adam Smith: That doesn’t make any sense! In order to have a successful economy there has to be competition! It is not productive nor is it beneficial to have everyone equal!

Charles Fourier: Well Adam I strongly disagree! We need to have a society that watches over everyone and thanks to that alone we will be successful!

Adam Smith: I am done having this conversation.

Charles Fourier: Fine be that way I have better things to do then try to convince someone as stubborn as you! Good day!

Danny C said...

Charles Fourier: Capitalism is the economic system we should work towards, where the factors of production are privately owned and money is invested in business ventures to make a profit.

Adam Smith: Obviously, Mr. Fourier, you have had a tad too much whisky. Our economy should be controlled by socialism, where the factors of production are owned by the public and operate for the welfare of all.

Charles Fourier: Well that’s a cute, childish argument, but those ideas are without logic.

Adam Smith: Okay hotshot; well then let’s hear your reasons for siding with capitalism.

Charles Fourier: It just seems to me that if the economy has a free market system, then people can become more independent and earn their own money and success.

Adam Smith: I can not discuss this topic with a fool. Good day sir!

Adam: (sigh) I guess I am good.
Jeremy: Why so sad?
Adam: Well I am trying to sell my book that no one will buy.
Jeremy: What’s the name of your book?
Adam: It’s called “The Wealth of Nations”. I am arguing that if individuals freely follow their own ideas then that would allow the world to be orderly and progressive.
Jeremy: I’m sorry but I cannot buy that book because I believe that the government should promote the greatest good for the greatest number of people.
Adam: Wow, this is kind of awkward now.
Jeremy: That it is but don’t you think that we should judge ideas, institutions, and actions on the basis of their usefulness?
Adam: I guess so but don’t you believe that once we have economic liberty we can have economic progress?
Jeremy: Touché m friend Touché.

CHARLES: Hahahha! you got to be kidding me A-Dog! you got to relize that the government should control the economy and then maybe this world would be better!

ADAM: Are you serious? Yo Chaz my man you have to know that if the people made their own decisions and had competiton in the bussiness then they make better products which would help the economy!

Thomas Malthus: Capitalism is the way to go! In order to survive in this world, we need to make a profit that only goes to one sole person, our self. One man for himself!

John Stuart Mill: What are you talking about? Better question, who are you? It's wrong that only one man can lead a healthy life while the other man, primarily the worker, has to suffer!

Thomas Malthus: The name's Thomas. And yes, it is completely fair! If you shared all the fortune you had with everyone, what would be left for you? NOTHING, that's what! Population has grown so rapidly, food supply has become a first come first serve thing, and I am sure I will be the first to be served.

John Stuart Mill: That is just selfish and unmoral. If you shared with others, you would have a peaceful environment. People are suffering with other families and all you care about is yourself? Ugh, I don't know what it is going to take with you! We need to stop having the rich and poor. All it is causing is havoc for the poor. Can't you understand that?!?!

Thomas Malthus: Okay, that is sad and all, but it is also REALITY! I am not going to give up everything I have just for others to live a better life than me. Come on, tell the truth, would you seriously do that? Okay, I've had enough. I'm done, bye.

John Stuart Mill: Man, I can't believe the nerve of you. This conversation may be done, but the chaos still hasn't come to a halt, remember that.

Thomas Malthus: As long as it doesn't interfere with my sleep.

Jake H said...

Thomas Mathus: Population keeps on going up, up and UP! We need more wars.

David Ricardo: I agree with you that the population is going up, but we don’t need wars we need to decrease wages.

Thomas Mathus: Decreasing wages won’t do SQUAT about the population! We need wars to kill off people and level out the population.

David Ricardo: But wars just cause even more problems and hurt the economy. What we need is lower wages so that we have enough money for resources. This would help the economy.

Thomas Mathus: You don’t know anything! You’re just stupid!

David Ricardo: WHAT DID YOU CALL ME! I’m not the idiot YOU are! Now if you will excuse me, I must go eat lunch. Good day.

Thomas Mathus: Fine wimp, I still win this argument.

David Ricardo: Good day.

Thomas Mathus: Good day.

John Stuart Mill: "All of your ideas are ridiculous such as the laws of self intrest and competition.

Adam Smith:"I am tired of you, we shall adjourn."

John Stuart Mill: "Okay, I agree the first thing we agreed on today."

Adam Smith : Hi Im Adam and i take a stand for free markets.

Charles Fourier : Im Charles and i think what you stand for is stupid, you should believe in socialism like i do.

Adam Smith : Why would i believe in socialism when i think the government shouldn't help poor workers?

Charles Fourier : Well you shouldn't think that, Socialism can offset the ill effects of industrialization.

Adam Smith : I don't care what socialism can do, my three laws, law of self - interest, law of competition, and law of supply and demand, are working fine.

Charles Fourier : If the government just helped the people out, we could end a lot of struggle for the poor workers and their families, all the government has to do is control the economy.

Adam Smith : The government could do that, but just like i have been trying to tell you CAPITALISM is the way to go!!!! Not SOCIALISM.

Thomas Malthus: Good day to you David Ricardo, how do you feel about the rising population?

David Ricardo: Why thank you for asking, I feel that wages will be forced down as the population increases.

Thomas Malthus: I couldn’t agree more, because of the population’s rapid growth; most are destined to be poor and depressed due to food shortages.

David Ricardo: Exactly, and thus, we have a permanent lower class because the food they cannot afford is distributed among the wealthy.

Thomas Malthus: It is clear to me that these food shortages are caused by the decreasing amount of wars and epidemics, with fewer deaths due to war and illness, the population increases and there is not enough food to go around.

David Ricardo: This is a brilliant theory, I shall write a book on this very topic.

Thomas Malthus: Good luck to you then, I must be on my way.

David Ricardo: "I belive that there will always be a permanant class of poor people and that the government should not help them lest I lose profit."

John Stuart Mill: "I say you are wrong in your belief Mr. Ricardo. I belive that the government should help the poor because they should not lead lives deprived of food and other basic needs."

David Ricardo: " You can say what you want but as long as there is a growing population and plenty of resources, wages will be forced down and lowered and I would still lose moeny. If the government made minnimum wages and better working conditions this would greatly upset the free market system and again I would still lose moeny. So I belive that the government should not interfere or create minimum wages!"

John Stuart Mill: " What you belive in is inmoral and wrong. This is why I always question unregulated capitalism. Because it is wrong, and it supports workers having to be poor and starving. I belive that the government should do away with the great wealth differences, that women should have the right to vote, and that there should be a cooperative system of a agricultural. That is what I believe in."

Thomas Malthus: The laws of self-interest,competition and supply and demand are the true laws to live by

Adam Smith: I don't necessarily disagree, but to add on, I believe that families need to work for themselves and get themselves out of poverty

Thomas Malthus: So you believe in socialism?

Adam Smith: I must admit, I do. Yourself?

Thomas Malthus: I believe in capitalism as much as I believe that we need war. Because no war equals pain, suffering, and food shortages. We need to manage and balance our population

Adam Smith: Instead of worrying about war, we should compete against each other to sell; a competition

Thomas Malthus: A competition? What rubbish do you speak of?

Adam Smith: A type where people need economic liberty

Thomas Malthus: I think this type of conversation is at an end

Adam Smith: As indeed.

Charlie d said...

Charles Fourier: Socialism is the solution to our all problems.

Thomas Malthus: What did you just say? I think you are mistaken capitalism is what will really solve our struggles.

Fourier: Sorry Mr. Malthus but all factories, mines, and railroads should be controlled by the government. This would promote equality in our sociey.

Malthus: My fellow peers, do you think the government should control our factories? Or, should factories be privately owned so we can invest in different business ideas to make money? We should have a free economy and free markets. If you want captalism please say I.

Peers: I! I! I!

Malthus: TREATED! (then walks out of the room leaving fourier emberrased)

Charles Fourier: I believe that the government should take control of key industries.

Adam Smith: I disagree with that, I believe that the government should have no part in the market.

Charles Fourier: If the government takes control of the key industries and the market, then poverty would end and equality will be promoted.

Adam Smith: Lies, you're wrong. People should work for their own good, there should also be competition in production companies, and there should be a free market. That is what will help the people.

Joe S said...

Adam Smith: how are you doing today Mr. Fourier?

Charles Fourier: Just fine thanks for asking.

Adam Smith: I believe that there should be economic liberty.

Charles Fourier: Well Mr. Smith I believe that all factories should be owned by the government.

Adam Smith: If all of the factories are government owned then everything will be restricted.

Charles Fourier: I beg to differ with that statement. That is not true. The government watching it will be the only difference.

Adam Smith: You are totally wrong and don't know what youare talking about. Thats all I have to say. Good day.

Charles Fourier: Good day

Thomas Malthus: Man, so many people are coming here to start their lives and find jobs, but we dont have enough food..

Robert Owen: I know. But i think the working conditions of people who work in factories are much larger of problem.

Thomas Malthus: No way! If they dont have food then they'll starve and they wont even be able to come to work.

Thomas Malthus: Therfore, the poulation increasing rapidly and affecting our food supply is more important then the working conditions and child labor.

Robert Owen: I strongly disagree. Forcing kids to work when they should be enjoying their chilhoods is a sin!

Robert Owen: I cant stand to listen to you Mr. Malthus. I bid you farewell.

Emma D said...

Owen: That is a horrible way to think Chap! By starting improvements now it shows that there is always going to be a better time.

Mathus: NONSENCE! I have proof! The population is clearly growing more rapidly than the food. We will probably all starve!

Owen: Terrible, just terrible. I do not want anyone like you living at New Harmony! Remove yourself from my sight!

Adam Smith: We are all free people that should be able to work for our own gods and have not have the government interfere in the flow of the economy.

Charles Fourier: I disagree with your statment sir. I belive that the industralization has brought negative effects on all of us. And that the government has to plan the economy for poverty and inequality to end.

Adam Smith: You make a good arguement Mr. Fourier but it is not enough to convice me that a socialism will help the economy. I still believe that a free econmy will help us in the long run. Compition between people will allow the economy to grow.

Charles Fourier: But a government controlled economy with commmunity buisness will help us with social justice problems.

Adam Smith:We both have are own reseons for our ideas and there might as well not be a resolve to which idea is better followed. We should just go our seperate ways.

Thomas Malthus: "The only way we will ever be able to feed our people and support them is if we kill them off! We don't have the money to supply for all of these people!"

David Ricardo: "I am telling you! War is not the way to do it! We are lowering wages so there is more money for resources! AND THAT IS FINAL.

Thomas Malthus: "Fine...you win."

Charles: That we should use socialism to run our economy rather than to just let it run free.

Adam: I highly disagree with you I believe that to keep our economy stable you need to let it work it out on its own and not be planned out.

Charles: That realistically thinking will not work you have to put some order into something to let in function well and smoothly. We can not really on a free run market it is not reliable and unpredictable.

Adam: I state in my book The wealth of Nations the three natural laws of economics, if the country were to follow those rules and guidelines, The economy will prosper and be stronger than ever.

Charles: goodbye I cannot listen to you ramble about your dumb plan.

Adam: you will see.

David Ricardo: That community will never succeed. Besides, as long as the population continues to increase, the wages of the workers will continue to drop.

Robert owen: I disagree with your ideas, I believe in a community with good working conditions.

David Ricardo: Well I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I believe that those who are poor will stay poor, and that the government should not help poor workers. The government helping the poor just screws up the balance of a free market.

Charles fourier:i disagree, i believe that capitalist employers take advantage of workers and the community must protect them.
Adam Smith:well on the other hand i believe that the government should not interfere with the economy because it creates competition in the buisenesses

Adam Smith: We need a solution, for that reason I have some up with an idea that will help. It will help the government have less power over the common people.

Charles Fourier: Hey, Mr. Smith i think you are wrong. My idea is way better, but in my idea the government controls what businesses make and do. This way everyone is equal. Also, those people who don't work, either they can't or don't want to can help.

Adam Smith: Why do you wan the government to control or lives? We shold let the markets and economy be free from government control.

Charles Fourier: I disagree, the government dhould have control so there is poverty and everyone is equal. We can come together and rely on each other.

Adam Smith: What happens to the money that people who work hard, work for? It will not go to them or their families; it will go to someone else. For this reason we need the work without government interference.

Thomas Malthus: “Dave, you know I oppose the government’s attempts to help the poor when it is simply no the government’s job to do so. Adam Smith’s natural laws basically govern our economic life. People need to realize that.”

David Ricardo: “Yes I agree completely, Tom, but let’s not forget about people’s wages. It is not the government’s job to make minimum wage laws which would lower profits destroying the production of wealth!!!!”

Thomas Malthus: “Now Dave, you might want to lower your voice, or people might start calling us cake-eating radicals. It is obvious that there are more people than there is food since our country ran out of epidemics so we should kill the weak off… starting with John Stuart Mill!…"

David Ricardo: (slowly inching away from Tom)” Okay tell me how that goes… I’ll make a plan B that doesn’t involve me going to jail or executed. Bye.” (Runs really fast without looking back)

Charles Fourier: NO! That is horrible! The government should help end poverty and help equality for all. Not fend for yourself!

Adam Smith: Well, like I said before, I have to disagree. Those are statements that I believe in. Also, I believe in the idea of a free economy.

what about child labor, children should not have to work, I improve working conditions, and all you care about is money.
Thomas Malthas
While your roming on about your nonsense, I getting the big bucks, I dont care if child work as long as there is production.

Charles Fourier:I hate to say it but you are a bit dilusional. Socialism is the way to go and the government has everthing to do with these families. The government needs to seek social justice.
Adam Smith:No it doesnt. All the workers have to do is compete and make sure they sell the best products in the bizzzz.
Charles Fourier:I totally disagree, the government should have the economy planned out, not dependent on the horrible free market of capitalism. These families deserve some equality.
Adam Smith:Equality Schamlity, all I know is that we need some more epidemics to kill of these "extra people" otherwise most of these people are gonna be destined poor and miserable
Charles Fourier: You're horrible!!!
Adam Smith: That's your opinion not much I can do about it. Peace man my woman wants me home in time for dinner.

Thomas Malthus: We have so many people coming over, the food supply will not meet the demand of the people.

Owen: Yes, i can see that. Therefore i have created a small town by my factories and free school. I wish to help people through this tough time.

Malthus: Yes you bring up a good point, we need to get the youth of the nation educated so that our great country (not as good as America) can break through this big barrier,

Owen: I would love to help, But im going to America to start up a utopia. I will call it New Harmony. I tip my hat to you. Farewell.

Malthus: Good bye to you my friend.... (Whisper) I LOVE YOU

Adam Smith: i think the people who are in poverty should get out of it themselves they are the ones who caused it right?

Robert Owen: well mr smith....... thats a horrible thing to say! unlike you i care for the poverty?

Adam Smith: i dont care what you say its all about Capitalism!

Robert Owen: oh please its all about socialism. the government should help the poor and give them a community and food to have.

adam smith: whatever free market economy leads to economic well being

Adam Smith: I’m Adam Smith, I am a professor at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

John Stuart Mill: Hello Adam. Tell me, what do you believe in?

Adam Smith: Well John, I believe that natural laws govern economic life. Or Capitalism.

John Stuart Mill: What does that mean…

Adam Smith: That means that the government does not control the economy.

John Stuart Mill: -GASP- OMG! Doesn’t that mean the workers have to work even hard to earn money? Won’t the workers lead deprived lives that are sometimes bordered by starvation?

Adam Smith: …well…yes. But they can handle it.

John Stuart: No they can not! I wish to help ordinary working people and guide them to equal division of profits.

Adam Smith: Psh. Excuse me, I’m must be going. I cannot waste my time talking to you and your nonsense ideas of a world that will never be. Good day sir.

John Stuart: but-

Adam Smith: I SAID TO GOOD DAY SIR!

Adam Smith: If we had liberty and independence in our economy it would strengthen everyone.

Charles Fourier: Adam Smith no offense. You are an idiot. What we need is people to rely on their nation to end the poverty and help the revolution.

Adam Smith: I believe that there should be a free economy, which in turn would lead to growth and wealth.

Charles Fourier: I disagree with those comments; I believe that all factories should be owned by the government.

Adam Smith: But then there would be no progress, because the government would be holding back everyone that is trying to gain success.

Charles Fourier: That isn't true though, the government would be only keeping an eye on them and not deciding what they are doing right and wrong.

Adam Smith: I think that this would lead to the governments’ wrong doings and they would take to much control of their power.

Charles Fourier: Well, if I have not persuaded you yet, I guess I never will. Ill see you later!

Adam Smith: Hey my name is Adam and I think the people should have a free market.

John Stuart Mill: I am John and i belive workers have bad conditions.

Adam: I think if they need money they should work harder for it.

John: I am a strong believer in utilitarianism.

Adam: I also like basing people on how useful they are. I also support captilism.

John: Omg no way so do i we have so much in common probaly cause I based my ideas of of yours and just took them to another level.

Adam: Well I better get going.

John: See you later.

Adam Smith: I believe that economic liberty will eventually lead to economic progress.

Charles Fourier: I am sorry but I disagree with that. Factories should be owned by the government.

Adam: Then you must be a socialist. That will limit the progress.

Charles: Once again you are wrong! Government should plan the economy. Thats all I have to say.

Charles Fourier:How do you do?
Adam Smith:Pretty good, thank you. I just finished writing my book The Wealth of Nations.
Charles: Oh what is it about?
Adam: It defends the idea of a free economy or free markets.
Charles: That is a good point, but i disagree with that.
Adam: What do you think?
Charles: I believe in socialism where i seek to offset the ill effects of industrialization.
Adam: Oh?
Charles: Yes, the factors of production are owned by the public and operate for the welfare of all.
Adam: I see, well i do not believe in that, and i believe in the law of self-interest, competition, and of supply and demand.
Charles: Okay goodbye.

David Ricardo: Hello there Mr. Owen, I see you've been helping out with the working conditions of the employees.

Robert Owen: Is that so? And what do you do to help dear sir?

David Ricardo: Well I believe that wages should be forced down as our population grows.

Robert Owen: Oh well isn't that nice.. I think that we need to make a Utopia, I perfect place, where children go to school and workers work without the threats of their lives.

David Ricardo: Oh well there is no such thing as Utopia, but I think you are surely getting close to getting the job done.

Robert Owen: Well thank you sir, but i must be off, more houses to build.

David Ricardo: Alright it was nice talking to you! Goodbye.

Tom N said...

David Ricardo: Well hello mr Charles Fourier how are you.

Charles:
I am Fine how are you?

David Ricardo:I read you ideas on socialsim, how do you honestly believe that a free market will not work.

Charles: In a free market that a company can control what is going on in a market, which can be good or bad. How do you think that wages will determine how people will work.

David Ricardo: People will work slower and less for wages which will equal lower wages.

Adam Smith: Hey John how does it feel that you're points are a lost cause and everyone knows my leadings to socialism with Thomas and David were correct?

John Stuart Mill: That is completely false! You are accountable for people leading deprived lives and sometimes leading to starvation, you are a skidmark to the underpants of society! (everyone laughs)

Adam Smith: Oh please, please everyone laughs at you in mockery! The day that I set the three natural laws of economics was the day that the new world unraveled. (Adam spits on John)

John Stuart Mill: (wipes his face) You're a child! Yes I agree that you did change the way the business world was run, but it was changed incorrectly. Workers are working VERY long hours on minimum wage and barely get to see there family that they're doing all of this for and barely getting by!

Adam Smith: Nonsense! I set up business' to receive profits and I allowed workers to work for their own good! Workers come up to me and kiss the ground I walk on, and I curse the ground you waddle on!

John Stuart Mill: You're laws set up may have been descent but you led that into capitalism which I question with every inch of my body!!

Adam Smith: That can't be too much, for you are short and stubby! (Everyone laughs)

John Stuart Mill: (Runs away crying)

Adam Smith: I beleive that people should work for themselves and the govternment should not interefere.

Charles Fourier: Well i beleive the exact opposite, I think that we should all come together, govternment included, and run the business's that way.

Adam Smith: That is stupid! People would make much more money if they could run their own company! the economy would besuch better off.

Charles Fourier: Well what happens if one person is doing bad? we can come together and help them. My solution will help everyone in need.

Adam Smith: i say we agree to disagree.

Thomas Malthus: I believe that there are to many people in this blasted city and to keep the population in check and consistant with the food supply we MUST have wars and epidemics to kill off people

Robert Owen: you are a crazy idiot, if we kill off people than who will work in our factories and do all the jobs you don't like to do

Thomas Malthus: I can work these jobs if I wanted to and I want my plate full everyday, along with my families plate.

Robert Owen: But don't you believe that every human has the right to live and seek a good future.

Thomas Malthus: Yes I do believe that every human has the right to life, but we all must die and it isn't murder or execution, hundreds die in war and epidemics, all I'm saying is that it is a good thing

Robert Owen: O, I thought you were saying that you were going to kill people to save food, but I still think plague and war is bad

Thomas Malthus: finally you understand me, but your still a cheeky idiot

Adam Smith: Hey did you read my book The Wealth of Ntions?

Charles Fourier:Yeah I read it, but I didn't agree with a lot of your ideas especially your veiws on capitalism.

Adam Smith: What is so good about socialism?

Charles Fourier: I think that it will end poverty. What does capitalism do for the economy?

Adam Smith: It does many things such as competition will lead to a better product and enough good will be produced at the lowest possible price.

Charles Fourier: Do you really think that that will work?

Adam Smith: It has a better chance of working than your ideas.

James L said...

Thomas Malthus: I strongly believe natural laws have to govern economic life!
Jeremy Bentham: Oh, not really. Government is the one who give all humans their life.
Thomas Malthus: Well, as far as extra people are unneeded, do you think government should kill them all too?
Jeremy Bentham: People have rights to pursue their own happiness, and almost killing them reluctantly with wars is not a right thing you know.
Thomas Malthus: do you really think government should help the poor workers? Because I really don’t.
Jeremy Bentham: Government should try their best to promote the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

Jared P said...

Adam Smith: Mr. Mathus, people should not have their lives handed to them. they should earn their living and potential luxuries!

Thomas Mathus: But we need some systen to regulate how much each person should make for their family.

Smith: on the contrary! Ecanomic liberty shall cause progress indeed!

Mathus: no no no you baffoon! capitalism is surely the way to go. look at how the population rises so rapidly. our food supply simply cannot keep up.

Adam Smith: In this world, competetion is a necessary component in order to have well-made products.

John Stuart Mill: In such competition some make money and some lose money, which is morally wrong.

Adam Smith: People only work for their own good, and with all working together and sharing wages, products will be poorly made and there would be far less motivation. Making people share their wages is like punishing success.

John Stuart Mill: What about those who work hard for their wages and recieve little pay? Is it fair that hard work doesn't always pay off?

Adam Smith: The world needs new and innovative ideas to advance economically, and those ideas are where money is made. Fair wages should be paid, but not equal wages to all.

J Schnoor said...

Thomas Malthus: “I think we need capitalism.”
Charles Fourier: “No socialism is the best answer.”

Michael L. said...

John Stuart Mill: In our world today we need equal wages so all can benefit.

Adam Smith: When people work for their own good everyone benefits in the form of a better product.

John Stuart Mill: Why should hard work be punished by a low wage?

Adam Smith: Why should the people who come up with creative ideas that make a better product be punished by sharing their wages?
